Ready to Make a Move?

Moving into a new rental comes with plenty of responsibilities. We want to make things as easy as possible for our tenants, which is why we've crafted these checklists to answer some of the questions we commonly hear. Move-in Checklist

Congratulations on being accepted into a Key Lime Property Management home. Start your stay off on the right foot by following the steps below.

First Month's Rent & Security Deposit

Your first month's rent, security deposit, and any other applicable fees and expenses must be paid at the lease signing. Be sure to confirm the amounts with us in advance.

Move-in Date & Inspection

We will schedule the move-in and provide all necessary inspection information at the time of the lease signing.

Utilities

Please note, as a tenant in a Key Lime PM home, you must place all utility accounts in your name. Please take care of this as quickly as possible to avoid any outages or administrative fees associated with restoring access.

Move-out Checklist

We are always sad to say goodbye to great clients, but we do hope you've enjoyed your time in one of our properties. Ending your tenancy is a relatively straightforward process.

Notice of Intent to Vacate

As you prepare to vacate your rental home, please take the time to provide us with written notice of your intent to vacate. This gives us the opportunity to begin marketing the home and getting ready for a new tenant.

Property Condition

All tenants must return their rentals to original condition before handing in the keys. This includes:

  • Rental¬†Cleaning: Your rental property should be ready for a new tenant when you move out. Remove all of your belongings, thoroughly clean every room, and sanitize areas like the bathrooms and kitchen space.
  • Landscaping & Outdoor Areas: If you have outdoor space where you routinely address maintenance like lawn care or landscaping, please take care of these tasks once more before vacating.
  • Repairs: If any cosmetic damage has occurred in the rental, such as nail and screw holes, broken glass, or burnt light bulbs, please take the necessary steps to address such issues.

Security Deposit

Your security deposit will be returned to you as quickly as possible after you leave. Per Maryland law, we will conduct a review of the premises, document any damage, and schedule repairs as necessary.

The remainder of the deposit, along with an itemized statement, will be returned to you within 45 days. As a reminder, you cannot use your security deposit to pay your last month's rent. Failure to pay your final rent check may result in your account being turned over to collections and additional fees being levied for late payment.
